New: Professional Membership

Last Saturday, I joined the St. Louis Writer’s Guild.  Annual membership renewal is every June.  Officially, my membership dues are paid now through next May 2013.

Why join a professional organization?

Belonging to a writer’s guild or other professional writing organization like the St. Louis Writer’s Guild affords writers with many opportunities including further development through conferences and workshops, open mic nights to read our work to the public, volunteer opportunities, contests, and networking.

The St. Louis Writer’s Guild is a local chapter of the Missouri Writers’ Guild which recently hosted the MWG Conference that I attended in April 2012.

I will update you with information about guild events and my journey to be a stronger writer.

Is there a writers’ guild in your area?  Have you considered joining or are you already a member?  What benefits have you received or do you think there would be in being a member?
