For those of you who are new to following me on my blog here, welcome!! Let me take a moment to briefly describe what Aurorae Rising is about and then I’ll jump into my actual progress so far.
Aurorae Rising is an adventure novel about an errand boy who is charged with the strangest delivery of his life – escorting a sealed document on a cross-country dirigible race to a neighboring land.”
NaNoWriMo suggests a daily average of 1,667 words towards the ultimate goal of 50,000 words during the month of November. I’ve got my own goals this year so keep reading to receive an update on how my work-in-progress this year is going!

For those that are interested in stats, I’m using Svenia Liv’s lovely Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all the numbers.
This comes out to 4.7% of the novel written today. In terms of page numbers, rounding at about 250 words to a double-spaced page, this is roughly 9 pages of new material.
How I Felt Today:
Monday was a great day. I’m finishing up work on what will probably become the first 5 chapters of my book and thinking about to how I want to handle character development later in the plot. The themes that I originally began with are changing from what I thought they’d be but they’re also becoming more complex (I think?).
I’m very excited about my first row of GREEN stars on my visual word tracker chart on the wall. I’ve also finished reading 1 of the 3 books I’m reviewing and it turns out, that one didn’t need a review after all (blush). So… I’ve started reading book 2.
I decided not to take advantage of attending the first Sunday write-in at the Clayton Bread Co. but it’s something to think about doing next weekend. I still have a few more write-ins or meet-ups to attend this month to meet one of my #writemotivation goals.
Updates again tomorrow!
