NaNoWriMo 2012 – Day 13 Overview

For those of you who are new to following me on my blog here, welcome!!  Let me take a moment to briefly describe what Aurorae Rising is about and then I’ll jump into my actual progress so far.

Aurorae Rising is an adventure novel about an errand boy who is charged with the strangest delivery of his life – escorting a sealed document on a cross-country dirigible race to a neighboring land.”

NaNoWriMo suggests a daily average of 1,667 words towards the ultimate goal of 50,000 words during the month of November. I’ve got my own goals this year so keep reading to receive an update on how my work-in-progress this year is going!

My Target Project Goal: 21,667 / 50,000

Actual Word Count: 25.593 / 50,000

Words Written Today: 500

Hours Today: 1/2 hour

For those that are interested in stats, I’m using Svenia Liv’s lovely Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all the numbers.

Day 13:

Back to work today and not much accomplished in the morning by way of writing.  I am at the point where i am beginning to face what Seth Godin calls “Resistance”.  It’s not writer’s block, exactly, it’s more like a thousand things that seem more attractive than pushing through the scene you don’t want to write but need to.  Like completely re-organizing my Classical Music selection by Groupings on iTunes.  And then starting on the soundtracks…

Did I mention trying to find recipe ideas for Thanksgiving?  I haven’t even begun cleaning yet.  😦  Wednesday is my normal “off” day this week so my hope is that I can recover and press on.  I’m so grateful that God’s helped me with not having any physical issues that would prevent me from sitting at a keyboard from long periods of time.  I can’t imagine handwriting all 50,000 words, can you?

NaNo participants, how is your writing going?

Fans of my work: Leave a comment and let me know if you’d like to see excerpts posted of my writing project.  If there’s enough interest, I’ll consider it. 🙂

Updates again tomorrow! Have an awesome day!
