April 2014 Roundup

April has been a busy month, both for springtime activities (finally!), warmer weather and more frequent blog posts. I thought it’d be fun to do a monthly roundup of the best posts you may have missed. Scroll over the gallery below for descriptions of some of the topics I’ve posted about this month.

Links: Showcase Sunday (Overview) | Bookish Wishlist | A Bluebell Hike | La Diada de Sant Jordi | Review: Revenge Wears Prada | Review: Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore | Review: The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic

For those of you who are following my Goodreads 2014 challenge, here are the stats for the month:

Total Books Finished: 12

Total Abandoned Titles: Just one. A Talent For Trouble by Jen Turano (read 226 pages before I gave up.)

Total Page Count for April 2014: 3,269

Overall, I’m really pleased with my reading progress this month.  Some of my non-reading activities went along the by-way (gardening, writing) but I did get some movie time in with my husband so books didn’t take over my entire life (lol). In case you’re curious…

Films/TV (first-time): Noah, The Hobbit – The Desolation of Smaug, Saving Mr. Banks, Ender’s Game, Mr. Selfridge Season 2 (in progress)

My husband and I don’t get out to the theaters very much but we do utilize our local library so most of those titles were library finds. I am addicted to PBS (when the channel comes in clearly).

Seeing Noah in theaters was a bit of a surprise — we decided to do something fun on Easter and that was the only quasi-religious movie out. Verdict: Meh, it was okay. I liked the theme of trying to understand God’s will but we don’t always get it right. Some of the choices were a little controversial but I’m glad that I at least saw the film. (~)

I’ve really enjoyed all this blogging I’ve been doing and I hope you have as well.  I’d like to continue posting reviews at least on a weekly basis (Fridays probably) and continue the Showcase Sunday meme for as long as I’ve got interesting content to share.  I’d rather not waste your time or mine (smile). Some of the other categories (fieldnotes, lists, technology posts, etc.) will appear at random as new content is available to be shared.

Guess what gals and guys? We’re moving into May and that means … bar-be-cues and summer reading clubs! Oh boy!
