Miscellaneous bits n’ bobs from my website that (for the time being, anyway) don’t have a home anywhere else. Feel free to browse at your leisure or ignore entirely, most are relics from my prior websites at MidwestMaven.com and LaurenMillerBooks.com (both defunct).
Portraits of America, a collection of vintage photos discovered from estate sales featuring photos from various trips to national parks and the U.S. Capitol, dates unknown.
Sepia Snapshots, a collection of vintage photos discovered from estate sales featuring photos from trips to an oceanside resort and gardens, location unknown. Judging by the long-waisted dresses, these may have been taken in the 1920s.
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)
Each November, I try and highlight NaNoWriMo, a free program that encourages writers to embrace the laudable (crazy? terrifying?) goal of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. NaNoWriMo Central offers an overview of the program and some resources for writers (by me and by others) that you may want to look into.
I spent FIVE YEARS attempting a ‘win’ in NaNoWriMo, a journey that culminated in 2012 when I completed my first manuscript, Aurora Rising, which you can read all about here, if interested. Posts documenting past years’ attempts are available here.
Defying categorization, these remaining links desperately need a proper home. For now, this is their online hostel (so to speak).
